Greetings and welcome to the Patriot Express Newsletter Edition #220. Thanks for being here and returning to read another edition of the PENL. We greatly appreciate all the positive feedback received on last week's PENL #219 subtitled "Lies, Lies, and More Lies." Thanks for your response and comments. I comment further down in the "thoughts for the week" area on this topic briefly.
Anyone else get a tad chapped this week over the negotiated deal with Mr. Hunter and the Department of Justice for his tax problems and firearm violation? Anyone still believe the DOJ is representing equal justice for everyone? Nothing to see here, move long. Even though the GOP is saying they have multiple taped recordings with the voice of Big Guy JB on tape discussing the payoffs from Ukraine, we hear crickets. Big dogs, big barks, little bites. Don't cancel your lunch plans thinking you will get a breaking news story on this topic. Washington politics and corruption is like watching professional wrestling. Little ladies line up with umbrellas to strike their hated cheating wrestler and blood is broken in the wrong. But it's all fake. Just like Washington and our government. The problem is it our expense, emotions and future.
If you don't realize it, preparedness, being prepared, understanding why you should be prepared, all requires a time commitment from you. You cannot and will not be prepared by simply reading this newsletter or listening to podcast and so forth. You must make a dedicated effort to educate yourself to why you should prepare, how to prepare, and skills to help you in preparedness.
A Patriot brother from western NC shared the following link with me that really helps unravel much of how we got to this point and where things are headed in what is being titled The Great Reset. Check this out. PLANDEMIC on Twitter: "Plandemic 3: The Great Awakening Join our mission at https://t.co/S5wgH6ydfL Please share far & wide! #TheGreatAwakening https://t.co/LWpMuXO2ul" / Twitter
One of our Patriot sisters in central Virginia shared a picture of her rescue dog named Radar who seems to fit nicely into the daily garden chores. I haven't decided if Radar is waking from a nap, guarding our Patriot sister, weeding, or eyeing a fresh snack amongst the greens, or just supervising the situation.
Okay, let's move along and get into the newsletter.

Instructor Lori Valone – DIY Food Storage Alternatives
Brief Description - Many of us started our prepping journey by buying commercial freeze-dried and dehydrated foods. While these #10 cans are a great way to supplement your food storage, you can preserve food yourself and dramatically lower your costs or enabling you to store more with the same spend. This session will examine do-it-yourself alternatives to increase the calories on hand to sustain those you care about.
We’ll cover a basic overview of canning, dehydrating, and home freeze drying as alternatives to increase food security. Whether you have a garden or you are using store-bought goods, you can lower your storage costs and increase your food security by preserving food yourself. We will discuss preservation techniques for both on and off-grid scenarios and discuss the pros and cons of each method.
Instructor Lori Valone - Writing your Food Security Plan
Brief Description - Not since WWII have concerns about food security affected so many Americans. The ongoing shortages of basic food items on grocery shelves are a wake-up call for many who previously have never worried about feeding their families and well as established preppers who are re-examining their food supplies.
This course will share a step-by-step method to create your own written food security plan based on the answers to four simple questions:
· Why am I storing food?
· Who am I storing food for?
· How much food do I store?
· What kinds of food do I store?
Instructor Paul Valone – Projecting Power in Politics: Beating the Woke Mob
Brief Description - The fact that you are at Heritage Life Skills says you take preparedness seriously. But are you prepared to defend your rights before, during, and after what may come?
Taught by 29-year gun rights leader and author F. Paul Valone, “Projecting Power in Politics” will teach you how to defend against leftists bent on running your life not in just state and federal governments, but also on school boards, city councils, county commissions, even HOAs. If you are sick of getting pushed around by the “woke” mob, this course is for you.
Using the playbook written by Saul Alinsky, leftists have spent 50+ years hijacking our media, our cultural institutions, and our schools. Your children are taught to hate America. Your speech is controlled. Your employer is “woke,” and you are being called “racist.” You can hide, hoping they won’t come after you or your children, or you can fight back. This seminar will teach you to fight.
Instructor Paul Valone - Getting Ready, Not Arrested: Gun Laws for Preppers
Brief Description - If you own guns, you are probably an accidental felon many times over. With more than 30,000 arcane, sometimes nonsensical local, state and federal gun laws on the books, it is nearly impossible to carry a firearm outside the home without violating more than one. Those who say, “I’m going to do what I need to, regardless of the law” should understand that government has the most control over those it can brand as law-breakers. To help you better navigate the vagaries of ATF rulemaking, the course includes not only the latest ATF-induced hazards of popular AR-15 pistols but also short-barreled shotguns that aren’t shotguns and how you can legally create un-serialized guns whose existence is unknown to anyone but you. For 2023, the course will also include, “Navigating gun rights under the Biden administration.”

We must make this brief public announcement to protect the innocent.
Ding, Ding, Ding....Attention HFS readers..... Opinions shared in this newsletter are just that, opinions, and nothing more. Read at your own risk. The owner and author of this site is not responsible for hurt feelings or thin-skinned readers. I do my best to show restraint and respect to the best extent possible. I take as many precautions as possible and try to remain as nonpolitical as possible, however, there are times when I just can't help but point certain things out. Occasionally I use words only Patriots recognize and understand. It's not personal against any non-Patriot. It's just the truth. Sometimes we must pull up our spenders and suck it up. Just saying. Stay the course, read what you want, and avoid the rest. Avoid fear porn as much as possible and the day will be okay. When all else fails… Keep the faith and always have Hope.
Let’s move along and get to some thoughts...
Thoughts for the week
Why do I do this week after week? - I'm often asked "why do I keep coming back here week after week, 220 straight weeks, doing YouTube, HFS Zoom Group, multiple social media platforms, building classes and teaching on weekends, and writing books. Yes, it is time consuming and at times very hard to fit weekly needs into my daily and weekly responsibilities outside of Hope for Survival. Festus is swamped for the most part and his time is also in demand. So why do we make it a priority to keep coming back?
I have shared how often it will be late at night when most are in bed and I'm working on a product with a timeline to get a product out to you. Many times, I feel empty and lost for what to bring to you next. I often go off of my gut, world events, and news coming out. Then my email dings and I get an email from a HFS supporter sending a message of thanks for our continued support and effort to help you get prepared. It motivates me once again to keep pushing forward. Or I get text messages from readers thanking HFS for the weekly newsletter. You are out there but I don't see you or know how the information has helped you. I have to assume it does on many accounts, but I can't worry about it because what HFS is attempting to do is change minds of those who don't feel a need to prepare or to support those who are preparing. I know what many are doing personally because Patriots share their preparedness projects, goals, and efforts with me privately. I don't share names or locations here for obvious reasons.
The goal here is to make you smarter to global and national events threatening our way of life and get you to see why it is urgent for you to prepare the best you can. We have introduced many programs far ahead of when they hit mainstream media and alternative news. Why? Because Festus and I have been studying and tracking these things for over 12 years or longer. So often we see or hear something and our comment back and forth to one another is "we are familiar with this" or we've heard this before." It is most likely far clearer to us than others because we heard about it or studied it and researched it years ago.
Some will say it doesn't matter if you get it or not because we put it out and it's up to you to get it. Write it, post it, and move along. That seems very impersonal and not why we are here to help others get prepared. We have always made the effort to help individuals, families, and communities plant seeds and get prepared the best they can. Why? The more we help today the more we hope people won't be knocking on our doors when food shortages start to surface in our community, region, and nation. It is coming soon. We have shared the same message from day one and continue to put forth efforts to help others the best we can. We don't see your gardens growing. We don't see your plans being built. We don't see your efforts to establish communication plans and put up your Ham or GMRS radio towers. We don't see you canning meat and vegetables or tending to your chickens. We have to place much of our efforts on faith and the belief we are on target with our information to you. Some of you have put forth more effort than others and you have grown greatly in your preparedness skills and preparedness projects around your home.
You share stories with me about building your ram pump and running water lines for many feet from your source to your home. You share your pictures of your greenhouses, rabbit and chicken cages. You share the completion of your solar projects and how the system is working for you. You share your safe rooms and emergency evacuations plans for your home. The list goes on and on, but many of you are getting it done. We are proud of you.
Occasionally I get an email from a person who I may have crossed paths with in the past and had a couple minutes to talk with them or maybe it was a person in a class at some location who took the message to heart. Often, I don't know if the message connected and then sometimes, I will hear from a person who listened. I get an email of thanks for getting their attention and how it impacted their life.
I want to share one such message with you from a young man who was in a class at Heritage Life Skills 2022 in Waynesville, NC. His email reads as follow:
"I'm sure that you won't remember me, but at the Heritage classes at the fairgrounds, you asked if anyone was worried about their future, or the well-being of their family. I stated that I was. You tossed me a mixed bag of vegetables and simply stated "Then take these and get started making a difference."
From that package, and your simple advice, my family and I are still farming, storing, dehydrating, canning and eat. My wife and I also give some of our goods to families that are in need. We give some too the members and our pastor of our church. We are continuously being blessed by giving. All of this and more has taken place because of God's goodness, your kindness and a determination to not fail my family.
All of this is to hopefully encourage you to maintain your good work and for me to sincerely thank you. Have a blessed day, and I hope to thank you in person this year."
Thank you and bless you brother for your message. I look forward to shaking your hand and telling you how proud I am of you for stepping up. I appreciate your message much, but this is about you and you standing up and leading your family through faith, effort, results, and gifting others with God's blessings. Even when our efforts fail or confuse us, we must stand firmer, work harder, try again, and give thanks. I do hope and pray that your message here will be a blessing to someone like you who may read this message and be encouraged through it. When confronted with the opportunity I hope you can be a voice of encouragement to someone else equally.
Patriots, this is why we come back here week after week to deliver a message to another.

Sheltering - What you decide to do with your current shelter and location is much about how you understand threats, risk management, mitigation, and conclusions you draw from it. Yes, I understand a place to go and the resources to make it happen also drives your decisions. From all of this you must have a plan in place and be capable to make decisions and know when to pull the plug and make your move.
People often ask me "when should I leave and bug out?" Huh? I need more information. What is your situation? Where are you at and what are your circumstances? Trust me, preparedness decisions are not like you read in post-apocalyptic books that are exciting. I read them. I get it. Page one, John is away from home and just happens to have his bag in his truck. Page 3 the EMP hits and John is the only one to initially know what happened because he is a prepper. Page 7 he whips out a paper map and charts his course home on foot. Page 10....page 15, page 20, Book 2, Book 3.....John gets home after a few weeks, a few threats, and 15 other likeminded preppers joined him along the journey. Great information to learn by. But it's a book. Almost every situation is different based on you, your skills and knowledge, physical ability, local threat and how you manage your situation.
Saying "bugging out" is easier to say than the reality of it. Are you ready to walk ten miles per day to reach your destination? How are your LPCs? That would be your leather personnel carriers. Your feet and shoes/boots. Can you realistically carry your 30 lb pack ten miles per day? No? How are you planning to do it? How much stuff is in your bag that you have identified as a must have to equal 30 lbs of stuff? That probably doesn't include water either. The lottery ticket question is this; how much stuff do you have in your bag that you have never used before and it's just in the bag in case you need it? Are you really ready to stick your face in a mud puddle to suck water through your life straw? I could continue but hopefully you get the point.
Sheltering could be a box home, a mobile home, a tree house, a tiny home, or a small half shelter tent. It's situational and you only know which applies to you. If society is in a civil breakdown or our nation is at war, an EMP strike, or any other situation, your immediate plan to shelter in place may be changed to bugging out or vice and you are no longer capable to bug out and now must stay put in your current shelter. Yes, you may be stuck in your urban or suburban home with no way out. What is your plan based on a changing world and environment? You must give thought to your plan changing unless you up and leave now to avoid what is coming. If you wait for a trigger point and you see others starting to head out and you leave when they do, you are already too late most likely. Remember, as preparers we are part of a very small group nationally around 5% to 10% who are prepared. That means when you head out the door with your neighbors you are likely now part of the 90% group who are unprepared. Yep, the same group who all rushed to Wal Mart or Costco to buy the last 12 pack of toilet paper when Covid-19 started.
I can tell you that preparers I know personally with built plans for when they are mobile away from home, or for any reason, they have to leave their home for cause, they have considered their age, physical ability, needs, and they all have additional resources in their vehicle to help aid in carrying their backpacks. Foldable wagons, pull carts for golf bags, and other devices. They are thinking outside the box to avoid their plans failing when their backs can no longer carry the weight of their essential needs in the bag.
I have shared this before but will mention it here again. I have a friend in the preparedness community who is a great person and very smart. But he does all of his preparedness planning in the box and near center to bang. We once had a debate because he told me he planned to bug out with his family and if he ended up on foot, he would travel in the daytime walking with others leaving the community or city. Huh? Now, I do give some credence to a person choosing a time and plan based on physical ability and skill level to move at night off the road and out of site. I asked him, "when you whip out your food to feed your family because you planned properly, what are you going to do when the 50, 100, or more, people around you are starving and look at you like a bank handing out $100 bills? Have you thought your plans through and "what if 'ed" every step for points of failure.
I am often told I will pull out my firearm and end the debate by eliminating the person wanting our food. Okay, I get it. But what if the threat is quicker than you and catches you off guard and eliminates you? Now you are no longer available to defend your wife and family. Do you know what happens to females during WROL events? I'm not trying to scare you. I'm telling you the truth from my own past experience globally. Yea, I know, I was in foreign countries and in America we are civil and would never do something like what I just typed. We are a crime free nation, and all the crime stories and statistics are made up to sell more life insurance, right? The country has nothing to do with it. It is the human factor we must deal with.
You can be at home, bugging out, shopping tomorrow, getting gas, attending church, or maybe a kid's little league baseball game. You don't have to be quick draw McGraw or be a graduate of ten tactical handgun courses to stay ahead of a threat. It is about what you see and how you assess it. You can be 75 years of age and see a threat before it sees you coming. Humans, and specifically Americans keep a larger than self-personal image of being bigger and tougher than others. Wow, that is a bold statement huh? Of course, I wouldn't be talking about anyone here, right? In my former life, I used to get paid to travel abroad and keep others safe and off the radar. I had more problems from Americans being stupid and ignoring guidance than I did from real threats in the foreign location. Why? Because they walk, talk, act, and dress like Americans. You want to not be a target and stay off the radar? Then be different from others.
How you understand this information will assist you to have success in your decision to shelter in place or bug out. Knowing how, when, and what to do, at what time is the key to your living to see another day. It would also be good to include prayer in this process because in almost every case it's going to come down to you. Stressed yet? Imagine if total silence is critical to not being found or located and you need someone to talk with. A little prayer may come in handy.
Thats all Patriots...

That's all my Patriot brothers and sisters.
Prayers - Please keep our great nation, our elected leaders, military and first responders in your thoughts and prayers. We pray for good health and wisdom. Please pray for our leadership to find answers and guidance to the problems facing our great nation. May your faith remain strong and answers to the unknown provided. God is good and may our prayers blanket and protect you and your circumstances. I pray for each, and every one of our Patriots.
The HFS family needs lots of prayers right now. We have several sisters and brothers in great need of uplifting. Prayers are needed in Central AL up to Huntsville, AL and our Patriot brother who remains with serious health issues. Prayers are still needed in northern GA, MD, KY, NC and TN. Please keep our Patriot family in western NC in your prayers for uplifting, strength, wisdom and direction. Our Patriot brother starts his first chemo treatments this coming week. Please keep our Patriot sister, 90 years young, over in Huntsville, AL, in your thoughts and prayers. I know she and her family would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Most recently our sister has been moved to a rehab location and continues to improve however she has a long road ahead in order to return home. Our Patriot sister in western NC also needs prayers as she prepares for a heart Cath on June 29th. Please keep her and others in your prayers.
May we pray for all the blessings and things in life to be thankful about and continued hope for revival around the world. We must continually pray for the unsaved, our family and friends who live each day without the protection for eternal life and salvation.
As Patriots we must stay strong and never give up. Our home, community, and nation need us now more than ever. Stay focused on your local community and things that will impact you around the nation. Don't allow the events around you to create fear in your life. Build your own self-reliance and focus on faith and hope. Remember we are a blessed nation, and we must continue to be great people today and make a better tomorrow. Keep charging.
Blessings,
Bravo Echo Out,
I for one certainly appreciate the fact that you continue to make time to continue the PENL and zoom. I find that I learn something new with each issue/meeting. I can only imagine the amount of time and energy it takes.
